Roswell’s Early Voting Opportunity
October 30, 2008 by Pam Salls
If you haven’t taken advantage of advance voting prior to Tuesday’s election, tomorrow is your last day. The elections office is predicting about 150,000 voters will participate by voting early, advance voting and absentee balloting. By the end of day last Thursday, 19,963 votes had been cast at the North Fulton Service Center in Sandy Springs. Countrywide, 67,159 votes had been cast through early voting.
The North Fulton Service Center in Sandy Springs was the closest location for early voting for North Fulton residents, but now in Roswell, votes can be cast at Hembree Park, 850 Hembree Road (between Hwy. 9 and Houze Road). Polls are open from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Even those in line when the polls close will get the chance to vote. Poll supervisors have been instructed that whoever is in line at 7 p.m., will still get a chance to vote, even if the line is 2 blocks long.
Roswell voters, if you think that you’re too busy to vote this election, remember what a difference one vote can make…
…Gave Thomas Jefferson the Presidency in 1800
…Admitted Texas (1845) and California (1850) into the Union
…Made English the language of America instead of German (1776)
…Approved American independence from England (1776)
Remember to take you one form of a valid ID which includes either a Georgia driver’s license, State or Federal government issued photo ID, a valid U.S. passport, a valid U.S. military photo ID or a valid tribal photo ID. If a voter does not have one of these forms of photo identification, they can obtain a free Voter ID card at the county registrars office or the Georgia Department of Driver’s Services.
