More Ways To Think Green Roswell!

Turning down the thermostat and switching to compact fluorescent bulbs are easy but common ways to make your home greener. Here are a few additional greening tips and tricks that may have never crossed your mind:
Experience Historic Roswell’s Inc Restaurant
August 6, 2010 by Pam Salls
If you haven’t visited Roswell’s Inc, be sure to give it a try. I met some of my friends there recently and was pleasantly surprised by not only the décor but mostly the wonderful food. Located right on Canton Street in the heart of the Historic district, Inc is housed just a couple doors down from site fave Salt Factory.
Known for its street food, which is basically a Latin menu, Inc is taking flight in our small quaint town. The décor will grab you right when you walk in. Graffiti with the names of Latin American cities misspelled all over the walls, lots of bright colors and a really hip vibe. The kitchen operates out of a replica of a street cart, or otherwise known to big city dwellers as roach coaches. I digress….
Roswell’s Steal of the Month
July 23, 2010 by Pam Salls
Looking for something newer and smaller? Currently there’s a foreclosure in the Creekside at Mansell community just waiting for a new buyer.
This townhouse community was built by Pulte in 2001. This 2 story unit has 3 bedrooms, 2 and half baths and has over 1,600 square feet and a 1 car garage. All it really needs is a good cleaning to be move in ready. There’s even a side by side refrigerator that conveys with the property.
Historic Roswell’s Alive After 5
July 14, 2010 by Pam Salls
It seems like it’s arriving early this month; of course I wish it was here every week. I’m talking about Roswell’s Alive After 5. July’s festivities are this Thursday, July 15th from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Musical guests lined up for this month include Mike Watson located at the heart of Roswell Park, BackTrax will be located at Plum Tree Village, and Housebroken will be performing at the corner of Woodstock and Canton Streets. The theme for Green Streets Farmers Market is Peppers and local Micro-breweries. Wow, what a combo!
Historic Roswell Ranks in Money Magazines Top 100
July 12, 2010 by Pam Salls
It seems that with the majority of the news now a days being so negative, it seems we are just beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. If you focus only on the Nation’s averages, life in the typical American town frankly doesn’t seem so hot right now.
But Money Magazine has conducted its annual search for the best places to live in America. This year, they focused on the nation’s small cities with population of $50,000 to $300,000. Their search criteria included the optimal in job opportunities, fiscal strength, schools, low crime rates, good health care, interesting activities/recreation all factors that help make a town a great place for raising a family.
Historic Roswell’s Outdoor Water Restrictions
July 8, 2010 by Pam Salls
With the unpredictability of our afternoon pop up storms, I am occasionally asked what Roswell’s watering restrictions are. As you may or may not know, Governor Sonny Perdue signed the Water Stewardship Act of 2010. Under this act, new outdoor watering restrictions will take effect this month.
UPDATE II: Tax Credit Closing Deadline
July 3, 2010 by Pam Salls
The tax credit closing deadline was extended to September 30. Extending the tax credit closing deadline will help provide additional stability to real estate markets across the nation.
The passage of H.R. 5623, the Homebuyer Assistance and Improvement Act, applies the homebuyer tax credit closing deadline extension only to homebuyers who have ratified contracts in place as of April 30, 2010, but could not close before June 30. The legislation is designed to create a seamless extension of the new closing deadline for eligible transactions to September 30. There will be no gap between June 30 and the date the president signs the bill into law.
UPDATE: Federal Homebuyer Tax Credit Contract Deadline
June 23, 2010 by Pam Salls
Over the past week, confusion has grown regarding the closing deadline for the federal homebuyer tax credit. Various news organizations and blogs have reported on a 60-37 vote by the U.S. Senate to extend the deadline to close from June 30 to September 30 for those buyers who were under contract by April 30. Some of these reports did not accurately convey what has happened.
Nothing in the law has changed yet; the closing deadline for the homebuyer tax credit remains June 30.
